Suspect killed in crash after fleeing traffic stop in Parkland

A 31-year-old man was killed Tuesday while fleeing from police in a stolen car, according to a Pierce County Sheriff’s Department news release.

Deputies saw the Saturn sedan traveling on 121st Street East through Parkland about 2:45 p.m., the department said. When they tried to pull the car over, the suspect fled east and clipped a vintage Mustang while driving through the intersection of 121st Street East and Golden Given Road East, the department said.

The Saturn flipped over, and the suspect died at the crash scene. Police had lost sight of the Saturn before the crash, according to the sheriff’s department. The driver of the Mustang was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported, the department said.
