Professional Overview

Matthew is a Pacific Northwest native, born and raised in Anacortes, Washington, where his lifelong connection to the region’s working communities and waterways began. Growing up, Matt worked in the commercial fishing industry throughout Puget Sound, Southeast Alaska, and along the Washington and Oregon coasts, gaining firsthand experience with the challenges and risks faced by those who make their living on the water. That early exposure instilled in him a deep respect for the people who keep the region’s maritime economy thriving—and today, it drives his commitment to helping injured fishermen and maritime workers recover through GLP Attorneys’ Maritime Practice Group.

Beyond maritime law, Matt’s practice extends across the full spectrum of personal injury, including motor vehicle collisions, construction site injuries, premises liability, and wrongful death claims. Whether representing a fisherman injured at sea or a driver hurt on the road, Matt approaches every case with empathy, diligence, and a steadfast focus on helping his clients rebuild their lives. His clients appreciate his down-to-earth communication style, his local roots, and his genuine desire to make a meaningful difference.

Matt earned his B.A. in Political Science, cum laude, from Eastern Washington University, and his Juris Doctorate from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in 2020. While in law school, he was a member of the Indian Legal Program and served in the Indian Legal Clinic, representing tribal clients in state, federal, and tribal courts on matters ranging from probate and criminal defense to prosecution. He graduated with a Certificate in Federal Indian Law and completed an internship with the Maricopa County Public Defender’s Office, where he gained valuable trial preparation and courtroom experience.

Before joining GLP Attorneys in 2022, Matt served as a Deputy Prosecutor with the Skagit County Prosecutor’s Office, handling the county’s traffic and mental health commitment cases. That experience sharpened his advocacy skills and reinforced his dedication to serving the public and protecting individual rights.

At GLP Attorneys, Matt is proud to represent clients across Washington State, combining his local knowledge and legal expertise to achieve justice for those injured through no fault of their own. Whether in the courtroom or across the negotiation table, he is known for his steady leadership, compassion, and commitment to helping others through life’s most challenging times.
