On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, a devastating car crash took the lives of a woman and three children near Renton. 38-year-old Andrea Hudson was a mother of three and organized a homeschooling group Andrea was driving with five children as passengers, including two of her own three children. The three children who perished were children of close friends — 12-year-old Boyd Buster Brown, 12-year-old Eloise Wilcoxson, and 13-year-old Matilda Wilcoxson. Two of Hudson’s children were injured in the crash, and remained under medical care on Thursday night.
An obituary from The Seattle Times pays tribute the victims, and notes that family members of the victims say that the driver who caused the accident was driving at close to double the speed limit at the time of the crash. The Seattle Times previously reported that this devastating crash involved four vehicles, and although the details of the crash are still under investigation, there is a suspicion that speed may have been a factor. When asked about the driver’s speed, a spokesperson for theKing County Sheriff’s Office cited the ongoing investigation not confirming the speeds of any vehicles involved.
The 18-year-old man who has been identified as the driver who caused the collision is now being treated for injuries and may face criminal charges.
