2024 Seminars: Mastering Your Personal Injury Patient Practice
Navigating the injury claims process can be stressful and frustrating. Our complimentary seminar series will provide you with the information necessary to successfully manage your personal injury patient practice to help minimize the impacts to your bottom line.
Every patient’s personal injury case is a unique story about the impact of an event on that person and their life, and the journey takes time, with often unexpected turns. After starting our year with our ever-popular medical liens refresher, our 2024 seminar series will guide you through the typical phases of a personal injury case, giving you the knowledge and tools to better serve your patients and help them in their path to not only a physical recovery, but a legal recovery.
- Presentations are offered throughout the state of Washington, in addition to a virtual webinar option.
- You need to attend only one session to receive the CE credit for this topic.
- Our in-person seminars include a complimentary lunch.
FEBRUARY 21
– MARCH 6
Medical Liens
A step-by-step guide to understanding and filing medical liens for your personal injury patient practice. Included in the presentation are case studies demonstrating why Washington’s medical lien statute should be an important part of your billing practice.
MAY 1 – 16
How a Personal Injury Case Starts:
The Critical First 90 Days
The first 90 days after an injury causing event are critical to the eventual outcome of the personal injury case for your patient. From handling the property damage claim, to opening the first-party billing claim, to the decision to hire an attorney, to collection of evidence and witness statements, and to the creation of the initial patient medical records, a lot can happen in the beginning of the case that matters to the end of the case. We will provide updates to Washington statutes and case law, and present case studies to help understand the important early steps to take in any personal injury case.
AUGUST 7 & 8
How a Personal Injury Case Progresses:
The Treatment Phase
Treatment after an injury-causing event can take months or even years before the patient reaches recovery. Good medical records establish a solid foundation for managing a patient’s first-party personal injury claim, and for meeting the burden of proof and establishing damages for the third-party claim. This session will discuss the foundations of creating and maintaining good patient medical records alongside the when, why, and how of referring patients for additional medical evaluations. We will provide updates to Washington statutes and case law, and present case studies to help understand how to best manage the treatment phase of a patient’s personal injury case.
OCTOBER 2 – 23
How a Personal Injury Case Ends:
Two Paths to Resolution
Reaching a full recovery for your patient may happen with or without litigation. We will examine why some cases resolve without litigation, why some need litigation to get the best outcome, and how your work as a healthcare provider may impact case trajectory. We will present case studies to help understand how cases move toward resolution regardless of the process in or out of court and update you on case law and statutes.
