Seattle City Light has determined that internal rotting caused the collapse of two central power poles last April, which lead to a domino-like fall of 26 poles that damaged cars and injured two people. Seattle City Light now promises to do a better job inspecting its large network of power poles, and to update its system for replacing those at highest risk for failure.
