According to court records, the Alma, MI and Dial-A-Ride case will officially be settled for $1.35 million. A hearing was held on April 3, 2017, to approve of the settlement in the wrongful death lawsuit. A wrongful death civil lawsuit was filed on October 2, 2015 by Earl Griffith, the “person

The city had insurance to cover the $1.35 million settlement cost with Michigan Municipal Risk Management. Alma city manager, Phil Moore, reported that they “have adequate insurance to
cover that.”
The Griffith “estate requests that no monies be awarded to the estate on the account of conscious pain and suffering.”
