On February 12, 2024, the Spokane police responded to a call downtown alleging that a man was brandishing a knife and threatening multiple people. After engaging with the suspect, officers opened fire. The Spokane Police Department reported that the three officers on the scene first attempted to tase the suspect. Afterward, two officers shot four to five times at the suspect. The suspect was injured and taken to a hospital for surgery. His current health condition is unknown.
