Introduction
Q13 Fox News reported yesterday that two adults and one child were killed in a collision with a semitruck near the Snoqualmie Pass summit on I-90. The interstate remained closed west of Easton until about 1:40 pm on Thursday to allow state troopers investigate the deadly crash. Our hearts go out to the families impacted by this tragedy.
What caused the collision?
Troopers report that the semitruck crossed over the median into eastbound traffic as it travelled west on I-90.
Who was hit?
After crossing into oncoming traffic, the semitruck struck a Kia Optima. The Optima, driven by a 40-year-old man from Yakima who died at the scene, contained 4 other passengers. Two of the passengers, a 27-year-old woman and a 10-year-old child (both also from Yakima), died after being transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The remaining two passengers in the Kia survived: a 36-year-old woman and a 6-year-old child, who were taken to Kittitas Valley Hospital and Harborview Medical Center, respectively.
What do we know about the semitruck driver?
Information about the driver is limited, though Fox reports that the semitruck was driven by a 43-year-old man from Pasco. He was not injured in the collision.
