On Friday afternoon, around 2:45 p.m., a sedan collided with a motorcycle near 8th Avenue and West Nickerson Street. According to police, the driver of the sedan was driving eastbound on Nickerson Street entered the roadway and crashed into a motorcyclist traveling westbound. The motorcyclist died as a result of the collision. A drug recognition expert later determined that the driver of the sedan was not impaired at the time of the crash. The sedan driver remained at the scene and fully cooperated with authorities. No arrests have been made at this time.
The crash blocked the intersection for several hours. A pedestrian who witnessed the incident attempted to direct traffic but was struck by another vehicle, which fled the scene. Fortunately, the good samaritan was not injured.
Seattle police said they’re investigating both the initial crash that killed the motorcyclist and the hit-and-run that involved the pedestrian.
GLP Attorneys extends our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the motorcyclist during this difficult time.
