When a loved one is sent to a nursing home you never expect them to be mistreated. December 2014 Sonja Fischer, 83 who suffered from Alzheimer at the time was raped at Walker Methodist. The man who violated Sonja was sentenced to 8 years in prison. CNN and prosecutors revealed that it wasn’t the first time this man had violated someone at this nursing home. He had multiple offenses the first being in 2008. Many times the families do not believe the victim. As one family member said he was irate he was never told that a pattern of complaints had emerged against a single caregiver. Had he known of this pattern, the son said, he would have taken his mother’s report of abuse more seriously. Instead, he trusted Walker Methodist.
