Self-Driving Tesla Causes Fatal Motorcycle Accident

On Friday, April 19th, 2024, Jeffrey Nissen was riding his motorcycle in Snohomish County when he was struck by a self-driving Tesla, as reported by KIRO 7. When driving home from lunch, the driver of the Tesla put his car on autopilot to check his phone. While the driver of the Tesla was distracted, the Tesla, which had Autopilot activated, launched forward and struck Jeffrey in a fatal motorcycle accident.

Probable cause documents were filed against the driver of the Tesla, and the driver was placed under arrest for Vehicular Homicide for not paying attention to the road when the car was moving. While Tesla instructs drivers to always be paying attention and ready to take over control of the vehicle, a multitude of safety incidents and countless YouTube videos show that many Tesla drivers often use Autopilot unsafely.

GLP Attorneys sends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Jeffrey Nissen and hope that they find comfort during this time.
